Trick Flow Kit on 80,000 mi stock s/b

I'm thinking of putting the Trick Flow Street Heat Top end kit on my healthy running '95. My question is, with 80,000 miles on the stock short block, should i wait and do the short block, or should it hold up for a while longer under its new load?

I did H/C/I on a 100k +. As long as the motor is healty the motor is good to go. Mine ran like a champ. Really the only reason I pulled my motor was to go stroker.
Have seen these motors go 175-200 with proper care and sometimes even without any care.

I put the trickflow stuff on my shortblock that had over 145k on it, and its going strong...

DO IT! i put my head/cam/intake on with higher milage than that and it is still going strong 30k later. I'm about to throw some boost at it as well, granted i don't know how long it last at the new power level.

Can the short block take out the heads if it grenades ? Is it common ?

It definitely could depending on what the damage in the bottom end consisted of. Break a rod and the piston stays at the top of the bore, piston itself breaks, etc would end up with valves coming into contact with the piston. Could be ugly, but any engine could have those problems whether it's a quality shortblock or the factory one.

guys that are putting H/C/I on a stock shortblock/bottem end......

can you just take the factory stuff off and bolt the goodies right on? no resurfacing? no other surprises? my car has about 108k on it

side note: my car shows 108k but has had 3.55s in it since 95 ( right after the car was bought). only had 4.10s for a few months. i do believe it had the correct speedo gear installed with the 3.55s. now with that said, that corrects the speedometer but does it correct the odometer as well? or do i have actual less miles than showing?

Speedo and odo are driven off same sensor (VSS - vehicle speed sensor).

If you go from 3.55 to 4.10s your car will appear to be going FASTER than it really is resulting in more miles on the odometer than you actually have.

I got a Dallas Mustang Speedcal to correct for my 4.10s.
