trickflow cam p/v clearance

has anyone ran this cam on a stock bottem end with twisted wedge heads ...did you advance/retard/ or install dot to dot....just curious also how do you like it ....i dont have a deggree tool and was going to just go dot to dot with it

also i was told that if once its together i should spin the crank by hand if nothing locks up then it had enough clearance...is this true

The only way to know your p to v clearance is to measure it; someone else's experience isn't indicative of what's gonna happen with your engine. And no, spinning it by hand without it 'locking up' ABSOLUTELY does not tell you anything about whether you have sufficient clearance.

Check the link for more info on the topic. And you really should degree the cam if you want to assure it's installed at the proper timing. The components that control timing frequently have errors built in during manufacture - not uncommon that a dot to dot install results in cam timing being as much as 4 degrees off. its the stage 2 cam

michael yount so what your saying is even though the cam/timing chain are brand new..there could still be flaws?
