i got my 2002 gt about 3 weeks ago, and when i got it there were no problems at all. about half way last week i tried starting my car, it usually takes about 2 seconds of holding the start position, and this time it took at least 3.5 maybe 4 seconds. some times i will hold it for close to 5 seconds and then let off and try again and it will start in 4 seconds. even if the car is warm (i'll drive like 6 miles) then i turn it off and try again 3 minutes later, the same problem occurs. if anyone has any input i would greatly apprecitate any help. thanks

When holding in the start position, will the engine crank over? If it does crank but won't start right off, I'd check the fuel filter - mine was real dirty when I changed it at 15,000 miles. If engine won't crank at all, you might have a bad ignition switch - fairly common problem.

Mine has a problem with starting. It might take a few secs to kick over and when it does it will hover at about 300 RPM's and almost stall then kick back up to 1500 then idle. Not sure if it's battery or starter.

Doesn't seem like a battery or starter problem, actually. Seems like an extended cranking time problem. I've seen an extended crank/unstable idle/high idle problem with a Lincoln Town Car. Had a bad Idle Air Control valve - the replacement part was an "improved design". And no service codes were stored in the computer.
