Ok, so i know its not much of a feat, but Im tryin to get my 157k mile, all stock motored with basic bolt-ons 5.0 coupe into the 8's. So far, with 20* advanced timing, 93octane (no pinging) and 20psi pressure in the bfgs (street tires) ive bested a 9.12 with a lousy 2.21 60ft... The car is quick for the track, ive beat quite a few nice cars, but I dont care, I wanna best my times. Ive got some Miicky T drag radials comin but I figured ide see what others would do in my situation with what I have to make the best of the night...tire pressure? timing? etc...
Thanks for the help guys, and heres to hopin and havin fun
Matt

60's too high for street tires imo. I clicked 9.4s off with a 2.0 60' @ 74mph with cat-back and xpipe. Run a 2.0 60 and you should break an 8.9x off.

id put 89 in it and run around 16-18* for timing. if you put the tires on you should have no problem hitting 8's in the 1/8th. just launch it aggresivley.

what mods do you already have, we cant tell you how much faster you can go until you tell us this, the 60ft would put you in the 8's if you have traction, the drag radials will help lots, just do a nice burnout, and launch the hell out of it.

Cobra upper/lower
70mm BBK TB
BBK CAI
94-95 MAF
BBK equal length shorties
H pipe
Flows
Pulleys
MGW shifter

With the new tires you should be in the 8's

I did not see gears on your list of mods. If you don't have them I would install 3.73's and have the factory traction lock diff rebuilt. I believe it wouldn't be out of the question to run 8.60's or 50's

Finally got it, Got my Mickey Ts on, and after some 9.12s I pulled some air out, figured out how to heat em up right and launch a little harder and finally got into the 8s!!! Ran a couple 8.8s then finally a best of 8.72 at 79mph, with a 1.9 60ft which makes the think there might be more in her!!!

Shoot yeah, learned that over the last couple weeks. My 8.7 was run with a decent burnout launching about 3000-3500 rpm and shifting around 5500-6000 rpm. She ran awesome last night and prolly had a little more in here...heres to experimenting a little more next time!!!

yeah when I ran the MT's launching at anything under 3k made the car bog badly.

Just be careful if your running stock axles. I side stepped the clutch at 4k and learned that the hard way...

Even with a short burnout they are plenty sticky.
