trying to convince my friend that his 'stang is broken

His is a 91 hatch LX, 5 speed. Supposed to have 3:55 gearing. Has ported lower intake, electric fan, K&N (but under the hood style hot-air-intake).

You can see his timeslip in my sig (#109), we raced once last year... he only gets 94mph? I'm not sure if it's him or the car but I'd like to check to see if his "mechanic" really installed 3:55's and I want to put his air filter in the fender or find him an airbox.

I thought stock fox Mustangs were in the 96-98mph range? He was mad at me for beating him pretty badly at the track. I want to help him as much as I can before we start racing this summer. Any ideas?

Well his 60' time absolutly sucks, which is definatly going to kill his ET.
I think he should practice his driving, and see what that gets him. If he can't get out of the hole, whos to say he's nailing his shifts and getting through the gears like he should.

There is a chart somewhere that you can compare gear ratio/mph/rpm somewhere here on the interweb.

I am trapping 96.xx with all of the mods in my sig. I know I can't drive and my car is a vert, but before TB intake and MAF I was trapping 94. My car seems strong and has 13 sec potential if I can get it to 60' decently. My post is pointless just letting you know...

Btw I ran a 14.6 @ 96.7 and a 2.2 60'

I nabbed a 98 MPH trap with my listed mods, and that's with a HORRID 60' on stock-sized radials (I think it was 2.3, maybe worse). A slow 1/4 mile with a bad 60' and a high MPH means there's more potential in the car if it can hook, but with a decent ET and fair MPH but a bad 60' ... I dunno. Bad launch technique but good shifting, I guess...?

I know I have problems with my launch and I could shift faster (but scared of killing the T5)... My friend, well I have to try his car but I don't want to ask him if I can take it on the track. Too scared of breaking something, I have enough with my own car, don't need to take care of two of them lol

A car is only as fast as the driver... and if you drive scared you wont run good times, end of story!
