Does anybody know if there was any ford cars/trucks that came from the factory with a 351windsor with a 4-bolt main or what might of came out with just a 351 windsor because my cousin needs a motor so we're goin junkyard hoppin tomorrow. Thanks!
I don't know if there was a production 4 bolt main Windsor. A 351C, yes, but a 351W, I don't think so...
But... if your machinist knows his stuff, a two bolt 351W should be fine up until ~750HP (and that's a REAL safe number.. I'm low balling the estimate to be safe... a lot of those blocks take a lot more HP than that)
74 and older blocks are known to have a higher nickle content making them a little stronger than 75 and up blocks. Also you can have your block machined for after market 4 bolt main caps.

The older blocks are the way to go if you are looking for strength. Also the main webs are stightly thicker. 4 bolt conversions can be down, or just bolt on a main girdle.
You can easily convert an older block to accept the stock roller lifters and spider in the oil valley. Drill 2 holes to bolt down the spider and clearance the block a little to accept the stock dogbones.
Since the older blocks can still be found I would suggest going that route.
The list: Full size ford, Lincoln and merc cars from the mid-late sixties on up. Try LTD, thunderbird, etc. Trucks and vans as well. 100,150,250, 350. 351 W is a popular engine. There are still quite a bit out there.
