I just installed a QA1 tubular k-member on my '91 LX and am less than thrilled with the results. The problem that i'm facing now is that the power steering rack no longer meets up with the steering shaft. It's about an inch short!! no, not a 1/4" or a 1/2" short, a full inch. Also, when the steering shaft and knuckle rotates when they are connected (although not completely connected to the steering column), they bump into the motor mount. Why does it bump into the motor mount? because when i set the motor in, i put the mounts in the rear slots on the k-member so my motor wasn't moved forward another inch.

so, my question is, what do i do? can i buy a longer steering shaft? can i get longer bolts and do the washer thing to make them meet? should i buy different motor mounts for better clearance? currently have the polyurethane ones, not sure from where but the red ones that everyone sells. do i need to buy a different steering rack when using the QA1 tubular k-member? will that help my problem of the steering shaft not meeting?

stupid QA1, never again. When i called tech support to ask which mount hole to put the motor in, they said to make sure it's in the back ones, and if the motor is still too far forward, just loosen the k-member bolts and push real hard to get the k-member back as far as possible!! what a frickin joke.

thanks.

Interesting......I was going to buy the QA1 K-member for my 93. Did it not come with instructions? You could unbolt the steering shaft (at the firewall) and pull it down until the knuckle fully seats and mark/drill it for a new hole? I think there is about an inch or more sticking up into the shaft?
