My 95 gt has now almost 80,000 miles on it and I was given NO service records for it. So I presume that almost nothing beyond an oil change was ever done. If I want to do an early tune-up for it, particularly in the hopes of getting slightly better mileage (without losing power), what should I replace first?
I was considering doing { plugs, wires, cap, rotor} but I was wondering if I should consider the fuel injectors instead (either replace or clean)? Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely? I did an oil change and changed my air filter two weeks ago. Are there any other filters I should pull and inspect?

When I got my GTS last year I put a new fuel filter, new plugs, wires, dist & rotor cap and a pcv valve. I would check the timing, flush the cooling system and put some fresh fluid in the tranny & rearend. While you got stuff apart go ahead and remove the intake air silencer and put in a K&N. This should keep you busy for awhile.

When you're checking the timing also inspect the harmonic balancer as the stock ones are prone to come apart. You can get underneath and feel the back of the balancer and if you feel rubber coming out then it's time for a new one.

What HoofnIt said...

If you want to clean your fuel injectors, buy fuel injector cleaner and use it for several tanks of gas. Also, clean out your MAF sensor with brake cleaner while you're installing a K&N. After 80,000 miles, your car will thank you for it.

I would remove the MAF, remove the back plate (Torx T-20 screws), and use electrical parts cleaner instead. Carb cleaner through the MAF sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. The MAF sensor is VERY sensitive, as many know.

Not you jasonlee0704.
