Tune ?

I had my car running on a 93 custom tune from VMP tuning but returned to stock because gas is riddiculously to high at the moment. I was thinking of getting a 87 performance tune but was also thinking of getting a 89 tune. My question is can you run a 89 tune with 87 gas. If not I will just get the 87 tune and use that for now. Thanks!

I was running an 87 oct tune briefly before I had a chance to fill up will 93 and switch to that tune. I thought the difference between stock and the 87 tune was very noticable. More so than the difference between the 87 and 93 tune. With the price of gas I wouldn't blame you.

You can only run a lower octane tune with either the same or higher grade fuel for ie you can run an 87 tune with 89, 91 or 93 octane fuel but you cannot run a higher octane tune with lower grade fuel otherwise you'll end up with knock and pinging caused by leaning out the air/fuel mixture which may also cause detonation problems as well..
