Ok, I've got a question about a tune. I have a diablosport tuner, which has worked pretty good until the last couple of weeks. I've started getting a MAF check engine light that keeps coming on, and I can't seem to get the MAF correct on the tune. It starts out at 0 on the steeda CAI tune and I have changed it to +1, +2, -1 and -2 as well as the 0. I think this problem has really just occured since I did underdrive pulleys. Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone has tried a mailorder tune from Brenspeed and if so, what mods did you have and how well did it work? The mail order tune from Brenspeed is $75. I have a guy locally that said he will hook it up to his system and custom tune it for $100. (I just don't know how well he will do) Or, if I wanted to save up some $ a proffesional custom tune will cost me $400. Right now I have a Steeda CAI, Borla catback exhaust, the Diablosport tuner, Steeda underdrive pully kit, and I just did Motive 4:10 gears. What are your suggestions/input?

05blues, sorry I can’t help on the core of your question but I can add some tips on your tune, hopefully. I’m no expert, just my 2 cents of knowledge. The guy down the street that can hook it to his system, does he have a dyno? If your going to spend the money on a true custom tune v. out of the box tune, then it should be on a dyno getting dialed in to your car with what ever mods you have put on. Since it’s a true custom tune the person would be able to dial it in on what he’s seeing on the dyno runs.

Some people can/will perform flash tunes which are cheaper but you will lose the ability to restore your stock tune – it’s a one time tune. I plan on doing a custom tune but I’m waiting until I have the parts I want and the money for a full custom tune that will include the tuner and saved stock tune.

I have a Steeda CAI and run Brenspeed tunes with no issues whatsoever. Runs great, no CELS at all. I also have the Steeda UDP's, which don't require a tune. Exhaust, as long as the cats are still there wouldn't require a tune either. So you only really need a tune for the CAI and to correct the speedo for your gears.

What is the exact code that is showing?

Since you say the problem started when you put on the UDP's, I am wondering if a voltage problem could be causing the MAF to throw a code. I know at idle, my voltage does go low because of the underdrive. But I would doublecheck first that the CAI is tight with no leaks. After that I might try cleaning the MAF.
