Bamachips or Brenspeed are great places to get the tunes from. I had Brenspeed mail order tunes and it netted me a 13.345 at full weight on street tires. I then had my car dyno tuned by Doug (Bamachips) several months ago and he got my car dialed in (fixed the converter lockup issue and corrected my A/F ratio) and I've gotten the full body weight run down to 13.099 using MT ET Streets. The E.T. didn't drop as much as I would've of liked it to, but my car was bogging down on the launch due to awesome traction. He has my car shifting at just under 6300 RPM as that is a few hundred RPM after my power starts dropping off. Bumping the shift pressures up to 25% over stock also gives an awesome kick in the pants...provided you have decent tires. With the OEM 235/50-18s back on the car right now, they can't handle the added shift pressure. If there is a reliable speedshop near you that offers dyno tuning, I'd seriously consider it if they do the S197 Stangs as it is the best way to tune your car and know it's right.
I went with 6,400 rpm shift point (in drive) & 6,800 rpm fuel shut off (in case I'm shifting manually and blow past the 6,400 rpm's by mistake). Bumped line pressure from 70 psi to a super firm 100 psi for hard/instant shifts. Also have the converter locking up in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears (not just 4th & 5th like the factory), and sped up the lock up to hit at 5,200 rpm's and at 100% to pull hard at the top end of the 1/4 mile. This was all done via a custom dyno tune at a well-respected local dyno shop.
Thanks for the info guys, its all appreciated, so say if I get an xcal2 or livewire that isnt loaded with any tunes could I send it in to bama or brenspeed for a custom tune? Just bolt-ons right now but I heard the tuned autos are like night and day. Thanks
