im considering buying an upper and lower intake combo for my pretty much stock 94 GT. considering that i still have stock everything except for pulleys, cai, o/r h, mac flowpaths, platinum plugs, taylor wires, and 12* timing, and i already have problems with detonation while running any less than 93 octane, will it be necessary or recommended to upgrade my fuel system such as the pump, larger injectors, maf, t/b, any custom tune, or adjustable fuel press. regulator? or anything else to get my car to idle good, not have detonation under a load and/or at high RPM's, or in general just to run "right"... are there any one of these things that in stock form on my car now would be seriously restricting the effectiveness of the intake?... also i'm considering a GT-40 or cobra intake, which intake holds low end torque better?... a lot of questions for sure but feel free to take a stab at any one or all of them, thanks, Kyle

A intake swap on a pretty stock motor does not need any tunning or upgrading or any kind. The cobra/gt40 is a great upgrade for the money and a direct swap.

The stock throttle body is "okay", even with a better intake. I picked up a lot of power from switching to a ported cobra intake, then even more once I put on a 70mm throttle body.

When doing serious mods (like a decent h/c/i combo), you're gonna run into mainly just tuning issues. This is especially so if you run big injectors. Right now, I am fighting running extremely rich, I'm running 30lb injectors. An afpr is pretty much a must when doing stuff like this, because you WILL need to adjust your fuel pressure.

you will notice a good gain over stock. I'm still using all the stock component on my cobra intake.

Check you MAF. Most likely its the cause of your detonation, as it seems to go and cause pinging on almost all 94-95 GTs at some point.
