okay i get really confused when it comes to tuning. lets say i get the Xcal 2 hand held tuner, and use it on my 2004 GT and advance the timing ...etc and gain the extra power. NEXT i want to instal the VT stage 1 cams. Tim told me he will send me a chip for the cams. SO what do i do next. I just put the chip in and drive. I mean will the chip VOID the tuning from the Xcal 2 and erase it, or how does this work???

damn bro. Looks like no one can help you. Ummm i think , no wait i dont really wanna tell you what you should go , because i'm not an expert when it comes to tuning. But i'm sure these guys here will help you out. Just be a bit patient. sorry i couldnt help

The car will drive well on an Xcal-delivered re-flash. You should be able to get the vendor of the Xcal to supply you with a tune suitable for the VTS1s or you might be able to use Extreme Tune and do it.

A conventional chip placed in the service port of the PCM will override whatever tune is in the PCM at the time, whether its the factory tune or one reflashed using an XCal. Personally, I'd rather use the Xcal to clean things up rather than pull the PCM, scrape conformal coating and so on...

Agree, the XCal 2 can be used to do anything and more a chip can do, and it's a whole lot easier in my opinion.

I think that any modification to the PCM will void the warranty, but if you have a tuner (Predator, Xcal 2, etc.) you can just return the stock program and nobody will be the wiser. What you probably need to do is get a handheld tuner and re-flash your PCM every time you change something significant (cams=significant). With cams, you will probably need to have a professional either tune it or send you a tune.

the Xcal comes with 2 custom tunes. So i will ask them to customize one tune for the VT stage 1 cams , only? or along with all my other mods..(gears..tires..etc..) ? and what do i do with the Xcal factory tune??

Having a chip and a Xcal is redundant. They do the same thing.

If I were you I would order the cams and Xcal from www.modualrpowerhouse.com or another reputable tuner. They will send you the Xcal with the tune for the cams and whatever mods you have. Then just install the cams and Xcal tune at the same time.

Who cares about the chip, the cams will void the warranty..

When you get the custom tune they should ask for all of your mods along with other variables (altitude, avg temps, etc.) and they will factor all of that into the tune. All you have to do is use the handheld to flash it. Personally, with the cams I would have a reputable speed shop do the tuning. Just make sure they use SCT..

if you already have the Xcal 2, they'll e-mail you a tune for you to load into the Xcal 2. while on the Xcal 2, you can adjust theh timing. then you can flash the cars computer.
