Turbo 68 fastback... carb or efi?

How much cash do you have is what it boils down too pretty much.

cash really isnt the issue... Like I said, a new blow through carb, stainless fuel lines, new pump and possibly intake, its all the same. EFI might cost just a bit more but not a lot, especially with the market of used intakes, injectors and what not.

You are fortunate to live in DFW, parts are aplenty there. I think there is alot more parts for EFI though. Used EFI intakes are more than new carb intakes, and used carb intakes are again cheaper. I don't know how much power you plan on, but stock injector won't work. Fuel rails, harness. MAF meter, throttle body, ecm, fittings and you will need fuel pump and regulator either way. Even the parts needed for a mega squirt adds up.

Blowthru carbs are not top secret, so info is easy to gain. They are making some great numbers, but a GOOD efi would be hard to beat with a carb.

pump, rails, maf, injectors, tb, intake, and tune to support decent hp will cost a hell of alot more than a blow-thru setup.

LOL..not if a blow thru carb is $850:eek:

i dunno what im gonna do...im guessing first step is find some turbos and some cheap headers and start mocking it allup

Below are my fuel system and efi related costs. Obviously some of them will bleed over regardless of carb or efi.

aeromotive a1000 pump 200 used
aeromotive regulator 150
1/2 fuel rails 75 used
70 mm throttle body 200
95 Cobra intake 125 used (yeah I practically stole it)
Lucas 42 lb injectors 250
Megasquirt and relay board 200
An fittings and lines 150
EFI fuel filter housings 70 used
Wideband $200

Over $1600 so far. If you do the ford efi thing you are looking at $100 for an ecu and $200 for MAF and at a minimum $100 for harness depending on how much work you want to do to it. A prebuilt harness is over $400.

From this day on I swear I will never list out the costs for this damn project.

It scares me to think about that.

I just listed mine online yesterday. I am sure I missed some $$, but it was still up there.

I got my bonnet and reg for 75 bucks. Bought the A100 new for 300. I did the carb. Less than 50 bucks to set it up for blow thru. Intake, had it. Carb, had it. You an MAKE TONS with a carb. But the look on people face when they look at you for turbo charging a carb.. they just look at you like your a retard. I am hoping to go track it this friday. I am going to write BLO THRU DOESN"T WORK in easy off shoe polish on the side of my car.
