so, this afternoon i was out driving and i was at a red light at the very front in the left lane, and i needed to turn right in a quarter mile or so, so i just plan on punching it on green so i can get in front of the car to the right of me and turn right. there a vw beetle next to me so i dont think it would be a problem.. right? so i go and i sorta halfway punch it, just enough so it doesnt spin the tires, and to my suprise i hear a turbo and the tires squeal next to me, and the beetle was right next to me.. i had to floor it to get past him.. i was in shock.. A BEETLE? people actually mod those things?

lol

A newer one? Some of those come turbo'd stock - but it'd be a sad sight to have to floor it to pass that

it was a new one, but it clearly wasn't stock.. i could hear the turbo discharge, there was some D-Bag driving it, and i just laughed because he was driving a beetle.

There's some that come boosted stock. My best friend's 'girlfriend' has one, and we used to steal the keys all the time. It's surprisingly quick. I think they run the quarter in like high 14's? They're FWD though, but they're a blast to drive! Massive torque steer. The only really confusing thing about them is trying to shift into reverse..

Those cars are stupid slow believe me. My mom has one. 1.8T turbo. Not fast at all. I cant see how you had to floor it unless he was pushing like twenty pounds of boost. Im tyrying to get my mom to let me put my HKS BOV on it! Anyways I never ride in her car as the windows are crystal clear and it decorated with beanie babies and flowers. It's also the only car that comes stock with a flower vase. If i guy was driving it, GOD help him.

I always had a blast driving that. I used to drive a lifted Ranger before the Mustang came into play. I used to love driving that little yellow turbo beetle. I got so many looks from people, especially those who saw me in my Ranger around town.

A buddy of mine girl had a Turbo S model. With a Chip, exhaust and intake (i'm sure there was something else he didn't tell people) he'd run Porsches and surprised a ton of people. He also has a 1.8T Jetta with Porsche brakes and some kinda turbo setup that smokes most V8's here. And they're not junk either. (The V8 cars)

I never understood why people get upset about being "beat" (or "what the hell, there's no way that should happen!) by something that's not a Mustang. Who cares?

You can make anything fast if you throw enough money at it.

I also love how anyone not in a Mustang is a d-bag, because they surprised someone...

I just don't get it. You can have 600 at the wheels in a Honda. Aside from the insane torque steer it'd have, if it hooked up, it be fast. But it'd automatically be called "rice" and the driver is a d-bag, by virtue of it being a Honda.

I really hate blind fanboyism.

So you can't be on a car-specific forum and be objective about things at the same time?

I think it's fun when an unexpected car can keep up. Stock, these turbo beetles are pretty slow, mid 15s, but that's similar to a stock NPI mustang for a few surprises.

I didn't specifically say it was *you*...it's the same thing on ALL car-specific forums. I just don't get it.

I don't have a VW, nor am I a member of a VW forum. But thanks for demonstrating my point.
