Which is the best way to go?


Hellion and HP performance are the two main kits I see standing out the most. I had it in my head I'd take a 6 hour drive up to MPH and get their mongoose kit done.. but thats ALOT of money, and I hear it takes forever to ship and everything.



Hellions kit is 6000 shipped to me, and I could have a shop locally install it and dyno tune it.

I know their are people all for Tim at mph and stuff, but could I just do better off staying in town? The owner of the shop I can go to in jax goes around for regional races, he has "the fastest stang in jax" and is well known around here. He runs a solid shop and everyone ive ever talked to said he knows his stuff.


It basically comes down to is it worth the drive and wait to put a TT kit on my stock block, and have it undertuned.. by tim.. or just order the hellion and get it all done in town.

I'm going to under power it to about 400 hp or so to maintain the stock block for awhile till I can build up finances.. I could see going to tim if I wanted a HIGH power, safe tune and all..


what are your opinions on my ideas?

the kits you are comparing aren't the same. the Hellion is a single turbo kit while the HP kit is a twin turbo. the HP kit has ceramic coated parts, Hellion doesn't mention anything about it. in my opinion, i think the HP kit from HP would be the better way to go. nothing against Hellion.

There are guys running low boost (6psi) on the HP kit on the stock block just fine.. conservative tune and stay off the rev limiter. Once you get the money for a new block, you can just bump the boost way up and be in the 600hp's.

Yeah, but then you have to tear everything apart again after the install, to build the engine later on down the road to take the power anyway. Seems like a lot less hassle showing a little patience and restraint and waiting until one can afford to build the engine first or along with the turbo install.

The term "do it right the first time" seems like such a cliché, but in this case it makes sense.
