i have a thunderbird with a 5.0 in it and i want to build the motor with a turbo. first off, i would like to do twins but are they really worth. i dont want an all out drag car. i want to use the stock block. on a single turbo does the exhaust running to the turbos need to be equal? or can i put it to one side so that one exhaust is short and the other longer? cani just use the stock headers and change sides and flip and use themon single or twin turbos? next the tranny is shot is there a way to bolt a c4 tranny up with using the fuel injection? if so what all is needed? or will it be best to go carbed on this setup? next, what all motor mods need to be done. i am wanting about 500hp if that is possible on stock block. also is the thunderbird worth doing all this to or do i need to find a lighter car to build the motor for. i would like to build the thunderbird because everyone has mustangs and i would like to build somehting different. the thunderbird has the independent rearend will it hold that kind of power? sorry for so long but if you guys could help me out it would be greatly appreciated thanks

if its got an IRS its got the 4.6 I believe, which means at 400hp the motor pukes, secondly, a single turbo is easier to plum, more efficient and just an easier way to go.

Id stick with fuel injection, carbs get expensive and touchy when it comes to boost.

I thought the IRS came out with the 4.6 motors? , secondly, a single turbo is easier to plum, more efficient and just an easier way to go.

IRS came out with the MN12 platform, it has nothing to do with what engine is in it. They used the 5.0 to 95.

500 HP is pushing stock blow limits (although I see plenty or turbo guys do it).

The IRS isnt good for drag racing at all... compared to a solid axle set-up anyways.

Using a t-bird is your choice. Plenty of people have pushed the t-bird to great ET passes.

Twins do not equal more Hp... In fact, more High hp turbo cars run one large single turbo (of course their powerband is pretty high and limited... ie supras)

Try www.turbomustangs.com you will get more info there than u will ever need..

it seems like you are a beginner in the turbo/boost field anyways.. it would be best you read everything about turbo systems.. (reguardless of how it related to you t-bird) That way you know what ur getting into.

While a single turbo may be easier to plumb in regards to the cold side, the hot side is far more difficult than a twin setup.

Also, technically speaking...a properly sized twin setup will be more efficient than a single.

I'd agree with poneypower89, take a gander at tm.com and read read read!!! Ton's of information over there.
