Turbo kit finished!!! But so is the head gasket too i think

Another question, are your brakes supposed to suck after FI because there's is no vacuum or whatever? They may just have to re-bled. I'll be getting back to the head gasket after the weekend.

There is a one-way check valve on the booster that should keep the brakes from seeing pressure. Keep in mind though, with more power comes more demand on the brakes. ;)

As for the gaskets, I’d just go with some fel-pro 9333’s or 8548’s…throw in some ARP head studs and call it a day. They’ll hold far more power than the stock block will allow…and will still act like the fuse they are. Cometics will require you to re-machine the heads and block to a finer RA…and you’ll lose that safety net.
 
as far as the head gasket issue, you really cant get away with stock gaskets and a turbo. I had a great tune, and blew 3 sets in a row, then switched to mls, and drove it for a year, still have the same gaskets with nitrous and never had an issue. In MY case, the "paper" gaskets just couldent hold the cyl pressures

You can get away with stock gaskets if you O-ring the heads.

Actually, FI setups generally don't have trouble with the brakes. The vacuum in the manifold is determined by the camshaft. There is boost in the manifold in a FI car when you are on the gas, but once you left off the gas pedal to hit the brakes, the throttle valve closes, and the manifold pressure drops immediately, giving you plenty of vacuum for the brakes. Usually, with a boosted engine, you're going to want a relatively low duration high lobe seperation camshaft, which is going to keep the boost from blowing into the exhaust. It's the big camshaft N/A engines that have trouble with brakes. I had to convert my car to manual brakes, because the engine was only drawing 8" of vacuum at idle. Also, I would like to point out that those little check valves on the brake booster, don't hold back boosted pressure too well. Usually the boost blows right through that little plastic check valve.

My experience (and that of many others) is 100% the opposite. Those little check valves hold back boost extremely well...as anyone who has brake boosted or held the tires at bay while bringing the converter up to speed. For those looking for extra protection in the PCV system what do people do? They pick up little check valves off junkyard vehicles brake boosters. If it wasn't doing it's job, none of that would be possible.
 
Update:

Finally got some more ambition and pulled the heads. Sprayed some wd-40 in the cylinders because they start getting surface rust fast. All in all it doesn't look bad. The cross-hatching is still visible but I'm not too sure how bad motors get lol. Tomorrow I will probably drop off the heads to get looked at and cleaned up, then clean up all the gasket surfaces real nice. One question though, is coolant supposed to come out of the lower head bolts? It did it on all of them I think.

On a side note, I dropped off the carb from the trans-am today so I should get it back tomorrow or wednesday and then get some noise out of that thing.
