I've been working with Steeda for almost 20 years now, and I respect their business practices. I can totally understand when one company chooses not to do something because it might lead to an undesirable outcome. Especially when providing that service doesn't fit into their business model anyway. When I ran a business, I would frequently turn down offering services if I knew there would be an undesirable outcome, even if I was legally protected.

Yeah, but without seeing the vehicle in question Steeda didn't "know" there was going to be an undesirable outcome. Hell man, I've seen brand spankin' new cars let go on the dyno. Chances are, if a little 302 has made it past 100k miles without smoking or knocking, it's pretty sound. But it makes not difference really, all Steeda is doing it helping other smaller companies thrive, so it's all good!

His dyno session is complete. He's on the way back to show the numbers. This is a 2004GT with basic bolt on's. Basically it's a stock 4.6L with Vortech making 7psi, exhaust and a tune. First run it went lean at 4800rpm and he backed out, like 351HP. Let you know how Thunder did in about an hour when he arrives to work.

Sorry to the OP about the thread hijack. Here is the Dyno numbers. He has a Lincoln Aviator fuel pump and I don't think this pump is as good as they say because look at the Air / Fuel Ratio. He's going to swap it over to the Cobra twin pump. He's got 39lb injectors which is plenty. He's seeing around 8psi. Overall he's happy as this is a daily driver and light tune.

How about his MAF? If it pegs it will go lean as well. That's what mine did so I had to use a MAFia on it.

And WTF is up with dyno shots using the STD correction factor instead of SAE? My tuner did the same thing during my last visit.

cant you just get the stock computer tuned? without the piggybacks or the tuners or the full on stand alone ecus. i dont really see why you couldnt just hook into the stock computer and tinker with the parameters

He's got the Cobra MAF and Injectors. The only thing that isn't Cobra is the fuel pump. Looks like it's that Aviator fuel pump that's the issue.

The guy told me if I couldn't fix it he'd send me a new one free of charge and I've had it for a few years too! But turning a guy away site unseen is just BS!

Have you ever run a shop? I understand EXACTLY why Steeda turned him away, and in no way blame them.. The profit vs risk is way too low.. They have safer, more profitable fish to fry

I don't need to run a shop to see the successes of a less picky operation, the place that tuned my car is living proof that it makes no difference what year the car is. And an 04 GT with a little over 100k miles is NOT an old car. Some shops have just gotten too used to tuning brand new cars plain and simple. It's not like every single car with a little mileage is going to blow up when you throw some boost at it! An out of the box S trim kit is completely safe for that car WITH it's mileage.
