I was wondering if anyone has turbocharged a speed density 5.0. Would it be possible to remap the ecm with a moates system and function with a turbo? Would the map sensor still work fine under boost?

I know systems like megasquirt work just fine with a map sensor under boost. How well would the eec-iv with the oem speed density sensor work under boost with the ecm tuned with a moates system, tweecer or etc.

According to this page the stock setup could compinsate for boost. Look at the highlights catagory under speed density colum... Ford Fuel Injection Engine Load

I personally prefer programming my speed density setup as opposed to my brother's MAF setup. To me, the MAF is just one more complication in correcting the fuel tables.

That said, I'm not tuning a stock speed density system. Mine is a stand-alone system (Big Stuff 3).

I'm not sure if you can use the stock MAP sensor. Something tells me that it won't register positive pressure (pressure above ambient). You'll need a 2 or 3 bar map sensor depending on how high you want to go. The only problem is that I'm not sure that the EEC4 will be able to read and tune based on one of these map sensors. I think this is a question that would be better answered at turbomustangs.com or EECtuning.org

Well I guess it would be safe to say the stock sensor isn't boost friendly. I wonder if a 2 bar map sensor could be installed and the ecm could be mapped for the new map sensor.

ugh, this sucks. I want to buy a moates system but it's hard to decide because a maf conversion would cost the same as a moates quarterhorse unit plus software. I also have a tough time thinking I'm better off installing a restrictive maf instead of using speed density.

The other option is a megasquirt. I'm worried about costs though. From what I read on the site it sounds like I would want to install the more expensive megasquirt 2 system. Is anyone having good success with a megasquirt 1 device on their mustangs?
