Turbos galore!!!

Whats happenin guys? Ive bin doin alot of researching(i really need a girlfriend) and i think im hooked on turboing my car. I know for a fact that it isnt going to happen this year, but would like to plan on it down the road and get my car ready in the mean time with supporting mods. I know how turbo systems work and have worked around them with friends cars(imports, psshhh), and ive owned a Pontiac Firefly, Turbo 3 baby!!

My biggest concern is not the install of a kit, but the tuning aspect. I live no where close to any sort of tuning facility and there is only one public access dyno in my whole province, and i would really like to tackle this one on my own. My question is how have others done it? Anderson PMS, TwEECer, other piggy backs? Is it possible to just throw in a Blow through specific MAF to get me running easily? AEM is out of the question, way out of my budget and above my head for a first time tuner.

Experts, Opinionators, non-experts, naysayers and haters please chime in

This is the kit i would probably go with, looks somewhat quality, totally complete, good customer support(owner is frequent on moddedmustangs.com) and most importantly the price is right for an entry level guy like me.

personally now this is just me..... I would not even mess around with boost if there is no way of tuning the car.... IF you dont have enough money for an AEM set up or other tuning device( tweecer rt), i dont think there is any way to pull the turbo set up off.... considering you do not have money for a tuning solution you probably dont have money for the other little odds and ends that will pop up during installation, which they will....to be safe.... id wait till you had some more cash saved up... but again this is just my opinion so take it FWIW:shrug:

If AEM is above your head....then the tweecer will be also.

I say get the PMS, wideband, software to datalog and a MAP (the PMS has boost tables).

You can start with a safe FAT tune and dial it in as you get more comfortable.

If you bought that stuff new, its over $1,000. But look for deals on the classifieds. Problem is that its tough finding a 94-95 PMS for sale.

I like the looks of the PMS, i guess i shouldnt have said its above my head, but its a big jump to go from no tuning expierence, straight into AEM. I think TwEECer is do-able, i would just have to learn it, thats all, i figure i am capable of that

What brand is the turbo? Maybe it will turn out to be junk?

They say its an "custom" turbo, to me that means chinese. But if it holds together, than why not:shrug: ive read of some good expierences with no name turbos, but, and this is a big but, there are lots of bad expierences also, a Masterpower is only 600bones away

The kit looks pretty nice, but it'll only be worth that kind of coin if it's a name brand turbo. Otherwise you can piece that together for alot less.
The going price for that kit is 1700shipped right now, and i think i would have somewhat of a tough time matching that price, although not impossible. The big thing for me being in Canada is convience, if i have to piece together 10 different items, that means i have to pay the dollar difference, shipping, duty and taxes on 10 different items to get them across the border

You still gotta get injectors, maf, and a fuel pump.
Thats why im planning this for down the road, i plan to upgrade my fuel system over the coming summer. I want to plan around building a turbo car so i dont pay double in the end, I.E buying two sets of injectors and proper MAFs for said injectors. Whereas i can buy a tuning platform, and run my car with say 42lb injectors naturaly aspirated, and still run the same inj. with boost.

thanks for the opinions so far, keep em comin

Only because the guy from B&G is a regular there and boost brothers is a direct competitor. Not saying his product is bad or anything, he makes great stuff and tons of people are happy. He is another viable kit that i am considering

ehhhhh I dont know man, I have heard it elsewhere but I just said theturboforums cuz more people know that one
