Turn signals and Vert top, what's the connection

I recently sold my 1991 vert to my nephew. It was an occasional driver for me and I never had a problem with either the top or the turn signals. However, he's now having an intermittent problem with the turn signals not working and at the same time the top will not go up and down.

Does anyone know if the top and turn signals use the same relay? If not, does anyone know any other common components that we should be looking at.

The only thing I see they have in common is the fuse. Mabe a loose connection at the fuse or in the fusebox itself.

not sure about the 5.0's but on the 4.6's i'm pretty sure that there is a relay for the turn signals or somethin to do with them that is behind the seat on the vert motor. you may want to check that out...

The relays for the vert top are under the stowage area (adjacent the top motor). The TS relay should be up front.
