Anyone run turndowns right after the mufflers? Does it sound good? Does it resonate badly?

I run them and HATE them. The drone is terrible, fumes suck, and it kicks dust up all over the side/rear of the car.

You're better off sticking with tailpipes in my opinion.

I've only heard a couple of people say this. I don't have much drone at all and I never smell fumes. I also have never noticed it kicking up dust or anything, I guess some of these things are hit or miss.

To me it would add a great deal of value to the question to add the following information.

What direction do you each have your turn downs facing? They don't have to be straight, you can angle them towards the doors a bit. That might cut down on dust, and possibly the bounce back effect of the fumes.

Also, some guys just cut the exhaust off after the muffler. So it points straight back instead of redirected with a turndown. How do they feel about the the fumes and sound?

I used to have turndowns on my car. I actually ran straight out of the muffler for quite a while, until the guy at the exhaust shop yelled at me for it. He was complaining about it shooting straight at the fuel tank. I didn't think it would be hot enough to cause a problem but he did. I always liked the sound and got lots of compliments on it. I never had any problems with fumes, but I always had a bad time with it stirring up the dust. That was one of the reasons I changed to tail pipes.

I will say that it’s a lot louder without tail pipes than it is with. I know my 2.5” magnaflow’s sounded really good like that, but when I switched to a 3” Aero chamber they resonated so bad I had to put the tail pipes on. After I added the tail pipes with 3” magnaflow’s it was still louder than 2.5’s with dumps but it did make it TONS quieter after the tail pipes were put on.

Mine point ever so slightly towards the doors.

I have heard of doing this, but I've been told (and it seems reasonable) that the hot exhaust fumes pointed towards the rear differential would, over time, turn the fluid to sludge/goo/whatever. I figured that it would be worth the $8 for turndowns not to risk that, plus I love the sound!

turndowns are great mine are angled out probley like a 45* or a little less... i think turndowns make such a great tone way better then when i had tails.....and i never noticed smells maybe every once in awhile but i run 110 and i love the smell of it and gas in general....i know im weird.
