I went to the hang outs last night and one of the guys from the thursday night crew just got a 2003<------(I think) stock 350 Z. He asked me a couple times to run it against the fox, but I said no and with pride. The deal is Im not gripping at all, the fox has been pulling hard but....If I would loose to something like that im going to be really dissapointed no matter what the reason was. What do you guys think, should i have gone for it either way? This little car is really well respected so I did not want to loose that.

To me, its never worth the ticket, the fines and putting others in danger. Thats just me... in your case, i think it takes more nads to turn down a race you know you'd win, than to race him "just because" thats just me though.

Are those your only mods in your sig? What did the 350Z have done to it?

Those cars are not to shabby stock. My friend has a 03 350Z and with just a k&N drop in and test pipes he went 13.7@101. Would actually be a good run for ya.

There's no loss in losing to a faster car. Lose to a slower car because you can't drive, then you can feel bad.

Ya thats it...for now
The 350 I think had a catback and Intake + 5speed

I know what my car has and what i can do, but i stayed thinking about it in the back of my mind what the outcome would have been. Those little things are 260 Hp Crank right?

You probably would smack him off the line and depending how long you all raced for you might be able to hold him off but I think he might catcha in the end....

So go get that Heads/Cam/Intake Combo and be done with it already

I had one race me from a roll of about 35-40 and he pulled me by a car untill we hit about 75-80, that was before I had the minor mods that I currently have now. Dont know how much different the outcome would of been now with minor league mods.
I would give it another shot though. Def would try from a stop, and hope I get traction.
Also I agree on the street racn thing, it all depends on the situation @ hand. At the time we had a wide open road 3-lanes with a median in the middle, no turn around spot for the coppers. But normally I dont do it. I just wanted to see how I stacked up. I only had my car for about 6-7 months @ the time.

i agree with farbeyond, im turning down races all the time because ive got more respect for the people around me and my car than that. the reward is not near worth the risk when it comes to that kinda thing. ....but if the road is reeeeeally open...and theres nothing around you....

I mean c'mon, lets be honest here. All the tickets, court costs, lost time at work, etc... did you make enough money in your "races" to out weigh those costs? If you answer yes, was it even enough to brag about? Go back to the 5.0 Talk and check out the Mustang that jumped the guard rail at the track. Imagine jumping across the lane and killing yourself and a family or something. I know we've heard it all before and we're all guilty of doing it once or twice. But it's just stupid...

its very much worth it. Its very different to live in a town thats big on streetracing vs one that isnt. Ive never even come close to having as much fun at the track.

its been 18 years since i last raced to dangerous and stupid i'd take it to the track unless you live in a small town with wide open streets with one traffic light to speak of its not worth it.

I have turned down a lot of races, and let me tell you turning down a race to a Saturn doesnt make you feel good, but I choose to not street race. I have done it a couple times, from rolls and maybe once from a stoplight through a wooded area where noone could pull out. Sure you get an adrenaline rush, but try racing heads up with a 12.5 car when yours runs 12.5-12.6s, knowing you have to knock down the tree, and slam every gear to win. To me thats WAYY more fun than a stoplight battle with a random car!

Exactly how I feel, I hate driving 2 hours to the track to pay $20 for 2 runs in 5 hours....the hell with that!

Older ones have 287hp. Newer ones have 300hp.

but I said no and with pride.

You were afraid you might lose to a car that might be faster than yours? Why does that give you pride?
