tweecer experts needed

ok, so heres the deal......I put on an 80mm pro-m meter calibrated for the 40pound injectors that I bought with it before winter hit. Put them on and the car wouldnt start again. I got it to idle (barely) a couple of times but it seemed like it was just running way to rich.....lots of black coming out back. I asked pro-m if the setup would work along with people on this site and everyone was in agreement that it would be ok, but at idle my supercharger is not doing a thing so I would think maybe the injectors are just to much. I do have a tweecer and tried to change cranking pulswidth along with others but no luck. Summer is coming and I am dying to go for a ride so does anyone know what parameters I can change on the tweecer to make things run at idle? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

I am no Tweecer pro as I just ordered mine yesterday.

I would think that if just the injectors and maf were changed, all should be well.

Have you tried going through the "cranks but does not start" checklist by jrichker?

Did you input the MAS chart (that came with it) into the tweecer? Doing this helped greatly with throttle response and part throttle driving. You can also change the injector size. I do not have it in front of me, but I can find the tables if you need me to, I havn't messed with it in about a year. Also, have you checked the yahoo support forum for the tweecer? There are lots of files for download, all I did was find one that matched my setup the most and changed the few parameters that were needed, it was REAL close to being what I needed.

Yea i would reiterate what matm347 said....download your MAF table if you have one...or go to the yahoo forum and download someone elses tune that is closest to yours and look at their injector scalar values and their MAF charts. good luck man

Thanks for the help......I used the 80mm that was already in the program for the curve. I will d/l one from the yahoo group and see if it is different. I guess a question that I dont understand is if your intake is callibrated for the bigger injectors shouldnt that send the correct pulse and setup without having to make these changes? if not then why pay to get it callibrated? thanks again for the input.

Not necessarily. The tranfer function for your meter MUST be correct to start with. No amount of tweaking with the injector size, pulswidth, min and max injector breakpoint settings, are going to smooth things out for you until that is correct. Sure... you may eventually get it to idle with an invalid transfer function but as you travel up the voltage range of your meter, the more screwy things will become. You need to find the flow sheet for the meter you're using. The EXACT flow sheet for THAT particular meter. Using someone elses data might get you close but you're opening yourself up for headaches.

I noticed where you said that it "seemed" like it was running rich. If you're attempting to tune without the use of a wideband 02 meter, you're pissin in the wind my friend. You CANNOT tune EFI electronically if you can't zero in on whether the scaler changes you are making are improving things or worsening things. There are WAAAAY too many variables and adjustable scalers to try and tune by ear and nose. Given that you seem to be fairly new to using the TwEECer just compounds that problem. Find a dyno or get a meter bro. You are otherwise wasting your efforts.

I agree with Dagger. Once you verified that the meter is infact calibrated to your injectors, you need to go into scalars in the tweecer and change your injector high and low slope. This way your computer knows what size injectors it has. I assume you have 42's, High=42 and low=50, is a good starting point. More importantly, you need to put the correct MAF transfer into the computer. If these two things are correct or close, it should idle fine. Also uncheck the update box on bottom left. Guys have been having problems when changing parameters and only updating. For some reason, it won't take it. Just download the whole tune for each change you make. Do a seach here: http://eectuning.org/forums/ It's a great resource of info and some pretty smart tuners...

Thanks again for the advice.......I have the actual flow sheet that came with the callibrated meter but it only has a 9 point chart. I talked to pro-m and they charge $50 to convert it to a 30 point for the tweecer. Is there a program out there than can convert it correctly without having to spend the extra money?

Though I've never used this function, there is a 30 conversion tool in the tweecer. Go under Functions, then MAF. It will be on the right hand side. You put a 9 point in and hit convert and it should spit out a 30 point curve. Like I said, I've never used it before..

If you are comfortable in excel maybe you could use that to extrapolate more data points.
Might be a good double check of the tweecer values?

$50 seems pretty crazy for that service.

I checked the converter in the tweecer and it worked. I would try that first, instead of paying $50.. Thats insane..
