I am looking to get one of these. I think the PMS would be more user friendly and I can understand most of the things you can tune with it but i am looking for other feedback.

To help you decide... $550 for the Tweecer R/T, around $900 for the PMS. The price for the PMS seems a little steep

I bought my PMS used. Acutally it was never used but the guy never installed on his car. For me not only is the PMS easier to use but it doesn't require a bulky laptop in the car. I've owned both but haven't used the PMS yet.

I chose the TwEECer. The user interface is better (the upside to having a laptop for tuning). I only use the laptop when I'm actually tuning, which is quite rare, so I'm not too upset about it being bulky. Also, the TwEECer supports datalogging, and I'm not sure the PMS does -- and datalogging is *very* useful if you're diagnosing drivability issues.

What about the price of a laptop if you don't own one?

So with the tweecer you only need the laptop in the car while tuning. So you can take it out when you are just driving around normally?

Yep. When I'm not tuning, I coil up the USB cable and put it in the glovebox.

i would think with all your mods and proper tuning, you should be able to make over 300 rwhp.

i have a tweecer and i just installed it. it gives you complete control over all the parameters the computer uses. the downside with having so much control is that the learning curve is steep.

but i am really interested in this stuff because i am a computer programmer who is interested in cars.

so if you are interested in learning how the eec really works, then the tweecer is probably a better choice. if you are not interested in all the details and don't feel the need to know what is really going on, then the pms may be more the thing for you.

I think it's a mistake to worry about whether or not the PMS is easier because of the dumbed down interface. If you are going to be succesful tuning your car with either device, you need to know about *cars*, not computers. The interface is trivial, it's what the numbers do when they're in the EEC that matters. This is what most people find difficult. Having a different tuner isn't going to suddenly make understanding the inside of the EEC any easier.

nicely put Dave I had downloaded the Tweecer program and was looking around on it. There was a lot of stuff there that I didnt have any clue of what it ment, but I'm sure once I get one, spend a few hours playing around with it, asking questions, I'll understand it a lot more.

I have seen some posts on the TwEECer forums from people who are selling theirs for one reason or another. That may provide another way to get your hands on one more quickly.

I'm with Dave on this one!

How can you modify something with the goal in mind being to make it better if you don't understand the thing in the first place?

I bought a tweecer and the learning curve is steep as has been said. Grady and Dave make very good points. I'm looking forward to learning more about the EEC and learning how to better tune my car myself.
