Tweecer Question

Sorry, but the tuning doesn't stay with the computer once the tweecer is disconnected. The tune is stored in the Tweecer.

From reading the above I don't think tuning with a Tweecer is quite like you have in mind

To me a custom tune is made of two parts, max power and drivability.

First of all, one of the biggest advantages to self tuning is you have the option to tune your combo to the level of your knowledge. At first that level is not so high, lol ...... but hey we all have to start somewhere. I say this cause after time your knowledge gets to the point that you have a custom tune that could very easily could surpass that of a Pro Tune. Now that is not to say any thing bad about Pro Tuners but most of the time they major on max power and minor on drivability. That in itself is not worng or anything like that, but know this ...... the max power thing is the easy part of self tuning but the drivability issues are way more difficult to master. Having said that, can you see that if you got the ability (you own a Tweecer) and the knowledge you can spend more time and effort to get your combo just the way you want it? The Pro Tuner is gonna need to get it the best he can quickly cause your paying for his time don't you see.

As for having someone else use your Tweecer to tune your combo ...... well ...... the above info was given to help you see that it would be kinda sorta a waste cause you could just have a Pro burn you a chip and call close enough ...... good enough.

I do wanna make sure to say you could get a chip that is right on the money in every way by a Pro but you could also get results that might be different as well. I just wanna be in control of the tune on the combo that I put blood, sweat, and money into ...... if you know what I mean

Now about using the tune of someone who has a similar combo the answer to your Q is ...... Yes & No with the emphasis on the No part, lol. You see Nik, these tunes truly are custom for the combo of the Tweecer owner. You spend lots of time tweecing (pun intended) the pcm values until you are satisfied (but you never do get to that point, lol) and the tune for one combo will not be the same for another. It would be close enough to run pretty good but it would have to be fine tuned for that very combo for max power & drivability cause no two mafs, eight inj's, fuel pressure, O2 outputs, etc are the same.

Last thing I'll talk about is where you speak about taking the car to the dyno for a tune.

Another benefit of using the Tweecer to tune is you do 95% of the tuning on the street and the rest at the dyno cause you can get it that close if you use the dataloggs and have a wide band. The dyno session is nothing more than just a little fine tuning of the spark and fuel ...... and of course ...... verification of all that mega power, lo .

Thats kinda how I see Tweecer tuning based on my findings

My intent was to give you an overview and I did not mean to imply you could not benefit from its use.

It is a bit more involved than install the interface, dl the software to your laptop, and talk someone into sending a tune by e-mail for you to upload to your pcm.

I've had a lot of fun with mine and I've seen my combo benefit more and more as my knowledge has grown.

That stuff is not really all that difficult to get the hang of.

Kinda one of those learn as you go things.
