#1: today i noticed the dogbone on my rear end was damp, i had my gears done not to long ago, but i dont remember if it was damp or not when i got it back. is there any way for this to be damp from gear oil leaking out of the rear end? or do you think it is just still on there from when they changed the gears and got it on there, i havent driven it in the rain either so it wouldnt have washed off in any way. i know on my friends car his rediator was leaking an the anti freeze is still all over and it is still damp an he blew it months ago.

#2: when i was at a light on a hill i was in neutral a started to roll back a bit, when i did this i heard a loud high pitched squeal. i thought it might be my gears since i just got them done, but when i got home i pulled in my driveway an put it in reverse an tried to replicate it (it only does it while going backwards) an it kept doing it then it stuck an kept squealing. i got out of my car an looked at my rear end but it couldnt have been that because i wasnt moving, and it was quiet back there, i walked up to my engine an it was coming from there, i just changed my oil today so i dont know if that has something to do with it but it doesnt sound good and i dont know what it is. thanks

If its coming from your engine, and it only makes the noise in neutral, I would say something pry with the fly wheel/clutch, but it just does it when you roll backwards???? that stumps me, but I would check the fly wheel.

Maybe the driveshaft rubbing something? H-pipe? Pinion is going to raise when going backwards with brakes lightly applied and raise the driveshaft a little. U-joints good in condition? Maybe take it back and tell them you have a noise that wasn't there before and have them take a look. They can also check to see if diff is leaking. Hope this helps.

well when i pulled into my driveway, which is on a downward hill, meaning i drive down to my garage, when i got to the bottom i put it in reverse and then backed up my driveway very slowly, and it would squeak, then stop then squeak. and at one point it stopped an the squeak stuck and kept squeaking, it was pretty loud to, i got out of my car an looked at the rear end but followed the noise all the way up to the engine compartment. but i had to be going very very slowly and rolling backwards in some way, so i have no clue

i think figured out what it was, i think i was hearing things last night when i thought it was coming from my engine, when i got my gears done they have to take off your brakes and all that stuff, and i think that they might have switched brake pads, like put them back on the wrong side so they are not perfectly worn into one side anymore like how they used to be, i turned my car off and put it in neutral, then pushed it backwards, and i can hear my left side brake pad rubbing a litle (how it should, our brakes pads are always in contact with the rotor, you guys know what i mean) and at one point it squeaks loud, so i think one brake pad just has one spot on it that makes it squeak for some reason, idk but im pretty sure that is what it is
