TYPHOON INTAKE....THE TRUTH....(IS DESIRED)

i HAVE AN S/C TRIM @ 5PSI, 30LB INJECTORS, 73C/L, EXHAUST AND OTHER MINORS.... MY STOCK INTAKE IS CURRENTLY OFF OF THE CAR SOOOOO....WITH STOCK HEADS + CAM... WILL I FEEL AN INCREASE IN POWER WITH THE TYPHOON UPPER AND LOWER??? I NEED ANSWERS AND I NEED EM FAST....WILL I FEEL ANY SEAT "O" PANTS DIFFERENCE WITH THE TYPHOON INTAKE TOSSED ON MY BASICLY STOCK...SUPERCHARGED MOTOR???..............THANKS.....

You should. I noticed a difference in the seat with stock heads and a mild cam, N/A. Anderson Ford Motorsport recommends it primarily as a supercharger intake, so I'd say it'd be worth your while for the price, especially if you can clean it up a bit and port match it. I would definately trust their judgement. It won't make the difference it would if you had a real cam or bigger heads, but in a forced setup every little bit counts more; especially with a 70mm TB, 75mm MAF and 30# injectors.

the opening is close to 70 mm on my intake so i think that would be a good starting point.people complain about 70mm having sluggish throttle response but one of the first mods to my car was add a 70mm edelbrock tb and my car has decent lowend response and pulls hard topend so with a s/c 70 should be fine.

Typhoon and 65mm TB will give you everything you need up to 375 HP then you may need more TB..I like the look of the Polished version I bought and quality was actually quite good. I think you'll be happy with your selection. I bought the car with the Eddy Performer RPM and 70mm on it, and it ran good, I pulled the Eddy off cause previous owner had stripped all the upper lower bolts and left me with a unmetered air issue (many moon I searched for my idle problem)..ended up selling the Eddy and TB for more than the Polished upper and lower Typhoon and 65mm TB with spacer cost me. Car runs strong as it did with old set up and 65mm TB gives little bit better throttle response in my opinion.

I have it a typhoon intake both the upper and lower are ported by myself, along with a 70mm accufab, and I'm running about 10lbs of boost, I'd say its a great intake for the price. One a n/a car it will kill your lowend, but on a s/c'd car it owns. Quality is comperable to mac headers paint job, so take it for what its worth. I acutally painted mine with some high heat black paint and it looks really good.

I dunno, I agree with about half of that statement- the half I don't have experience in- from what I hear, yes, with forced induction it's the balls. However, I would say my low end is every bit as quick and strong as it ever was before the Typhoon. It wasn't always that way, as you may remember you being one of the few willing to help me diagnose why my car ran like molasses in January when I first put it on (don't think I've forgotten, I'm still greatful)- however, it runs like a raped ape since the problems were fixed. I didn't lose any low end at all that I'm aware of, and N/A. I have a feeling that if I didn't have a good cam in there though, that it wouldn't be the case.

:nice: Maybe I should have been more descriptive, when I actually installed my typhoon intake, it was prior to having heads and cam done on the car so that is probably why I felt like the lowend was a little sluggish, after I swaped the heads and cam out The car ran like a raped ape. I shouldn't have said n/a in general cause thats not the case.

If you are using a good throttle body like the Accufab or motorsport, the 65 or 70 is lots. If you use the cheapo knock offs, use the 75mm.

Also, if you use the proffessional products tbody, check to see that when at wot, the thottle stop is lined up right as there is too much throttle shafe movement at wot, and you can miss the stop, and get stuck at WOT. I would also run a secondary throtle return spring since these POS have a WIMPY spring compared to anything else on the market.

Also, when you go and buy yours, check a couple different ones for free and smooth opening. Probably at least half of these are sticky right off if idle....

Ditto that! You get what you pay for! I got the PP TB too, and had every one of those issues mentioned. POS! I sent it back for refund and got an Edlebrock, which for another $20 looked like it was worth at least twice as much just in finish quality alone, nevermind how well it works. PP TB's are not worth getting unless you aren't in a hurry to get your car running again (like, ever). Mine was un-usable new out of the box- the butterfly was frozen in the body and couldn't even be broken free.

Ok..mine was good..far better than my BBK 70mm which had all the above mentioned problems plus an anoying whistle...PP makes good products from what I have seen but everyone has bad parts, I work for a tooling distributor and I see "crap" parts from every supplier every so often no matter how reputable the company or their quality checks.

Most everything made in China is crap in terms of quality and reliability..no slamming intended it's just true...import quality products often leave much to be desired. If I had known the intake and TB were from china originally I would have never purchased it, but it was the hot looking polished version sitting on the speed shop floor with the cheap price tag that got me to buying it. Unfortunately the intake was made in China but it is a great looking peice that went in without any hassle or modification needed, it came with all the parts and performed flawlessly. Sorry but I have to give the PP company a thumbs up.

DMAN302,

I bought a Typhoon upper/lower polished and am very happy with it so far. The only thing I did was re-polish it and my engine builder cleaned up the ports a little bit, but that was it. It went on the engine no problems whatsoever and it looks really good.
