az01gt said:thats the same boat i am in. i got a qoute at $1300 to $1600 to rebuild with a new torque converter. to buy a solid aod your looking upwards of $1500. (without converter) a mustang shop near my house will install for $350. the price is the reason i am considering a c4 instead. just something to think about.
az01gt said:the problem with the c4 is it is only a 3 speed. no overdrive. one hell of a trans but i ruled it out because i need overdrive on my 88 gt vert. i use the highway all the time. it is a much cheaper and stronger trans then the aod.
in lamens terms yes!mustangGT85 said:can someone explain the torque converter numbers to me. its the only thing i really dont understand. correct me if i'm wrong, but the converter #'s(2600 stall etc) is when you are moving and you floor the gas pedel, and the car hesitates for a second and (ussually)drops down a gear and speeds off?
meaning the stall # is the RPM the car will rev to before engaging(thus allowing more RPMS, and more power to the wheels) right? or wrong, or partially? please explain this to me.
