Ok since I’m new to pony's and this engine but not new to being under the hood what is involved in a typical tune up for a 2000 GT? I drive about 100 miles a day 5 days out of the week. I plan on using Mobil1 5w30 oil, but have no clue to what kind of spark plugs to use. And since I don’t see any distributor or plug wires I’m lost. Can anybody tell me their preferred parts and why? :nice:
:bang: Sorry for such an idiotic question but the fun parts learning besides driving the beast.

I have
3.73 gears
K&N intake
Pro shifter
70mm TB

I've used the Autolite 764's. You have a coil on plug set up, so unless one goes bad, don't worry too much about it. As far as a tune up, how many miles? Mine turned 40K and here is what I've done.

Replace belt
Replace fuel filter
Change diff lube
Change oil/filter
Change plugs
Inspect brakes/change pads as needed
Inspect coolant/flush system if necessary
Inspect/change air filter

I try to stick with Motorcraft oil filters now. Otherwise I try to use brands I know and trust (belts, oil, etc.) I use Mobil1 for motor oil and Redline for the differential.

Just a few things I could think of.

mine just turned 66k today. i just got it less then a week with it. i got it off a freind who didnt now anything about it either. but some how got pretty good stuff on it.. runs great.
from your list it apears that i would only need to do the oil change (mobil1 5w30) spark plugs (Autolite 764's) and fuel filter. the rest has been done when i picked up the bad boy. is there anything else? like the coil packes is there anything better than what i have now? not sure if its stock (Motocraft) is currently on it..

I've never heard of an upgrade for the coilpacks. They are what they are... However, I have read/heard mixed reviews on the Plasma Booster - it's supposed to maximize spark. Mind you, I have no personal experience with it so maybe someone else could chime in with some information.

HOWEVER, if you've done all the maintenance you can't really go wrong with a couple simple mods for power - like underdrive pulleys and timing adjuster. Perhaps exhaust or gears?

i have an exhuast and gears already. by the way i love those 3.73 gears even with my 100 miles a day drive.. underdrive pullys and timing adjuster are definetly my next mod. if any thing else i would be looking into an intake.. funny but i noticed that people are getting better results with the new C&L plenum than the Bullett intake. big differance on price to.. whats you take on those two intakes? i noticed you have the C&L plenum and we have the identical car. except for mods hehe..

depressurize the fuel rails

is there a trick to depressurize the fuel rails in order to do a tune up. since they have to be disconnected i lost like a gallon of gas. there goes $2.50 with todays prices

Put a rag over the schrader valve and push... It only seems like a gallon - there's not that much in there! Wait 'til you change the fuel filter with gas in the line - I thought the whole tank was draining!

yea true it just seemed like alot of gas. now that you mention the gas filter. were is it located i would like to change that to.

That's under the car just in front of the fuel tank. You'll need a spring lock tool to release it. An inconvenient location, but not so bad after you've done it once.
