I dealt with the charging problem by simply using the stock pulley on the alternator. No more charging issues.

a little off topic but i did the same thing as above and still have a charging issue at idle. i also have a powermaster alt. that i believe is a 130 amps something like that. it will idle find until my volts drop then idle jumps and dies.

did they install the correct waterpump? If they used one for a fox-body, the thing would bolt up fine, but there would be a difference in alignments.....only like 5/8 of an inch os so. i believe

There is no real was a ud pully can cause problems like killing the waterpump imo.

compare a correct 94-95 waterpump and the failed one.

I have the Autolite 130amp alternator as well. I would first have the alternator checked. If it checks out then maybe the battery is too far gone and needs replacement. The alternator will try to charge the battery for awhile and dies after it fails to do so by overheating the integral (sp?) regulator. If you have a fresh battery then the only thing left is wiring. Maybe a short somewhere along the path.

I think Ill take my U/D pullies to the track and try them with and w/o. And see the difference.

Thanks for the help guys. I just got off the phone with the mechanic and told him that it might be the harmonic balancer crapping out. He said that I was probably right because he didn't see any problems with the wp pulley.

i find that impossible. the pulley is held to the pump with 4 bolts, the bolts would push the pulley flat against the hub of the pump. it sunds like the pump just went bad.

I've ran across plenty of peeps who can tear up a B B or Bowling Ball before you can blink an eye

But Yes ... most peeps ... would have no probs doing that little project

I do agree with your thinking about the pump just wore out

Another thing ... you might wanna look at your hb real close

What the prob really is .......... is this ...........
the bearing in the pump is on its last legs and that is allowing the shaft to wobble.

That of course will allow the pulley to rub against other things causing the noise.

Agree 100% Grady.

I've had my pulleys for a year now with no problems. If you are having charging or cooling problems then you simply have something else wrong in your car and the pulley is just magnifying that. I had "charging problems" when I first got my pulleys, but replacing the battery solved that problem totally.

Pulleys are one of the easiest and cost effective mods out there, so don't be scared off my misinformation.
