guys i strongly recoment this mod. It is worth it. I just did it an hour ago.
when i keep the gear in 1st and hit the gas about 1/2 the Bit** goes sideways :nice: That was so cool i left the garage and kinda almost floored it, the tires kept spinning for a good distance untill i let go .

ive been tossing around the idea of getting these because of the cost...do you have any bad effects from them? i live in a hot, humid area and use the airconditioner quite a bit and wouldnt want to lose that or overheat. :notnice:

tony

I havent heard from anything bad from steeda's set...but just about all the other brands that make pullys for our cars, Ive heard of many problems to include overheating...Steeda seems to have the perfect sizes. I plan on istalling a set next week

I have a really good question here..when I turn on the A/C my car bogs down more than anything I have ever driven with AC turned on..does the UD pullies help with this a little? Even my GFs Celica is less noticeable than mine

well..it bogs because iut robs power from your engine...this will help...but it will still be there...someone correct me if im wrong...but i believe the steeda set gives back 45% of the power the air conditioner robs...so id expect it to take half the power...

this is how all the pulls work..they give back this robbed power to the engine...your a/c...alternator...etc wont be as powerful...but what they lose gets put to a good use....

hope this helped some

I would really like to get a set of the Steeda pulleys, but I've heard just enough horror stories about oil pumps and such to be scared of them.
The oil pump stories are typically from aluminum dampners/pulleys. They don't dampen enough of the harmonic vibration in the crank and it ends up cracking the pump gear. However, IIRC, the Steeda is steel, which is heavier than aluminum, and cuts down on more of the harmonics than the aluminum.

It's one of those things that you hear about more often than it really happened, kinda like crank walk in the 4g63 motor.

yeah there is some alternator storys out there too
That's typically because the pulleys slow down the accessories and spin the alternator slow and product less voltage at idle. I had them on my convertible. If I was sitting stopped at a light, with my A/C pumping, I would notice the voltage would drop. If I gave a little gass to raise the idle 200 rpm or so, it would go back up to normal. When you get your pulleys, you can put the smaller of the two (stock vs aftermarket pulley kit) alternator pulleys to help spin it faster. If they aftermarket pulley is bigger, it's gonna turn the alternator even slower than using the stock alt pulley & underdrive crank pulley. If the aftermarket pulley is smaller than stock, it's to help compensate from the underdrive of the crank pulley, and there's nothing you can do.

Since I just finished my instal , i will share this with you guys.
First of all most of those bad stories we hear , are usually with older mustangs. 2001+ wont really have those problems. and regarding accessories , steeda the U/D pulleys will slow the accessories 25% , and thats it. As stated by steeda.

I live in a REALLY hot place and i use the A/C almost everydays. My voltage is fine and my car temperature is definatly fine also :nice:
The steeda pulleys are steel , thats why I said earlier to get those instead of a different brand. You wont face any of those problems we hear everyday from underdrive pulleys.

anyways , who ever is thinking of getting the U/D pulleys, GO FOR IT. You'll like em. :nice:

Yup. Steedas were some great good-old proven mods. A nice bump and better mileage - it should be one of the first bolt ons. Unfortunately all I hear on stangnet these days is newbie idiots who joined since the plenum frenzy who dont think they work.

This is refreshing. :nice:

It doesnt get much hotter or humid than Texas/.....I have the steedas, and have had absolutlely NO charging, cooling, or dimming problems. I did have them prof. installed though. Dont fear them, Steedas are done right. Half the time I forget I even have them.
