I was under my car yesterday and i was installing turndowns for dumped mufflers and i noticed the u-joint closest to my rear end was leaking not alot just a drip off it. then i wiped it and a few hours later there was'nt another drip. not dripping alot but why not fix it. anyone know what it could be and how to fix it?

It was either just grease, or fluid from someplace else. There is no fluid in a u-joint to leak. There is grease on the needle bearings, but that's it.

What color was the fluid? What consistancy was it? What did it taste like?

How is the pinion seal on the rear end? Fluid can run down the flange and DS and drip off the u-joint.

U-joints themselves use high temp grease, which shouldnt get viscous enough to drip like a fluid.

Good luck.

I don't know how the pinion seal is all i know is i changed the diff fluid like a month ago. it was defiently dark in color and i could'nt see any fluid on the driveshaft or anything. after i wiped the drip off u-joint u could se it was a little wet in there at the seal of u joint and driveshaft i think it is.

I would say Hisson hit the nail on the head. Pinnon seal is probably leaking.

Take a look at the back of the differential where the DS bolts to the diff. See if it's wet at all. Also look at the back of the mufflers and above the differential and DS to see if you see wetness (a pinion seal leak will allow fluid to get flung around as it hits the spinning DS).

Check the U-joints for tightness and issues. If they have a zerk fitting, I'd lube them up.

Good luck.

It looks like almost like a bleeder screw, but DON'T TRY TO UNSCREW IT. Look closely at the tip and you will see, what looks like, a ballbearing. Basically the fitting looks like the end of a ballpoint pen...just larger. You use a grease gun to apply high temp grease to the joints themselvs.

hopefully the splatter from the u-joint fluid leaking didn't contaminate the ceramic-teflon needle roller muffler bearings..

Maybe it's a typo and he means 6.43 in the 1/8th @ 238kph.
