Hello: I am a new member and have 71 mach 1, 351c 2v, single distr. I got the car 9 mos. ago and am trying to get it to pass emissions here in Colorado. Is there a place, site or company to inquire about how the car is supposed to be setup i.e. vacuuum, dist. and such. Everything has been re-routed and simplified? The build date is 12/70 out of Kansas city. Thank you.

Well, you should be able to go to your local Classic Mustang Parts place and buy a vacuum diagram for about $15-20. Oboebrian might have one he'd scan for you. I've got a buddy with a '72 'vert, but he's put a 460 in it so that won't do you much good.

When you say not passed, did it fail or did you mean you haven't had it tested yet?.

Thanks for all the replies. I have not had it tested. I guess I am thinking that the system will fail it if it is not correct, but someone over the weekend said it is not like the old days where the people testing are mechanics, so it may not matter. Glenn

If it's only a tailpipe sniffer test and they don't open the hood or check for any emission pieces, there are vehicles with smog devices removed and in tune that are far superior at passing a shiffer test than a brand new car you've drove off the lot.

If it doesn't run rough or have any engine related drivability problems, I'd take a nice drive for about 30 minutes where you're up to speed on a highway to get the engine nice and warm and at a consistant burn rate, then pull over somewhere and grab a burger and fries and let the motor cool down for a while, then pull the plugs on it to see what condition they're in. If they look right (a slight tannish color) I'd just go try to pass the test and if you fail, ask for a printout of what you failed on and then go from there. If you're not sure how to read plug, every Chilton's of Haynes manual has color pictures with descriptions of what different conditions of plugs look like.
