Hey guys, I'm thinking about picking up a set of UD pulleys and I'm wondering if I need any special tools for this job. I've heard you need some sort of puller to get the crank pulley off the motor but not sure if this is true or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

maybe an impact driver for the alternator pulley....other than that just off with the old, on with the new.

Good Luck

The 4.6 motors need a puller as the harm. ball. is part of the pulley system. When we put UD on a buds 98 he got a new HB and we swapped them...needed a puller to do it.

On the 5.0 you just undo 4 bolts and you may have to tap or knock the old one off it its crusted on but its a simple unbolt/bolt on.

Thanks for the info, I wasnt aware if the 5.0's used a harmonic balancer type pulley or not. Think there will be much SOTP difference with this mod?

I picked up .3 from pulleys. I gained as much from pulleys as I did from 3.73 gears.

stock went best of 14.9 with timing at 14*
With 3.73's went best of 14.6 (high .9 to a low .6)
With pulleys I went 14.3

All 60fts were in the 2.0-2.1 range.

Thats a nice gain for pulleys. I only gained about .1, Don't even have them on my car anymore. Had to remove them to solve an issue with the belt rubbing itself after I removed my ac and smog pump.
