UFC 65

Tito is braggin about 3 fights this year. But 2 of them were against an old man who dosent live in reality. Hopefully Liddel knocks the cockyness out of him.. as far as serra... I dfinately dont think he won the ultimate fighter. He needs to go back to long island and check his attitude at the door. That old man shoney carter almost knocked his ass out again with a spinning backfist.

I dont watch ufc but I watched the fight on youtube. From the beginning the American guy looked like crap. Never seeing any of these guys I would have said hes a crappy fighter. After the two low blows he started getting a little stronger, but it was still only a matter of time before the French guy got him with one good hit, which he did at the end of the first round. And after that it was over for the guy.

GSP is 2" taller though right? And he was throwing a lead-leg low turning kick. It naturally raises, it was both the kick and the position of hughes that made it catch him. Dont forget they are wearing cups too, though. It doesnt hurt that much, I played hockey for 13 years. It only hurts around the rim of the plastic, and its more of an ache.

the low blows inadvertent? ehhh. the replay show him clearing hughes square in the jewels TWICE! i didnt see a foot deflect off a leg and hit hughes nuts. gsp wanted it more and hughes jus flat out looked bad. as far as hughes having the ego? what cause hes quiet? and a prior champ? i remember gsp was the one that showed very lil class when he walked into the ring and said hughes wasnt impressive. thats jus low class. personally id like to see someone knock gsps block into the 10th row. the only time id ever wanna see that guy win is if he fought diego sanchez. that kid needs a beating like a somalian needs a sandwich.

You clearly dont follow UFC, and watched one PPV somehow allowing yourself to form a retarded opinion. If you watch any of the GSP fights in UFC hes shown nothing but class and comeradery. You watched a highlight real, about one comment GSP made to Matt Hughes. If you had've seen the fight, no one felt any different, only GSP congratulated his victory, and said it wasnt impressive, but good job. I'd call that honesty and balls.

If I was in GSP's shoes, I would not have apologized, I would have left it as it was and left Matt to feel like a turd for having had his ass handed to him by someone that was basically out of comission for a few years.

After the inadvertant (yes, re-read inadvertant low blows) GSP said sorry right after it happened. A fighter with as much talent as he has does not need to or would gain anything by intentionally kicking someone in the nuts. Watch the video again and the instep of his left foot hits the top of hughes thigh, and as it connects, hughes turns his upper body towards GSP, therefore taking a foot to a CUP. Oooo...the pain....a plastic cup just dug in a little bit into my skin...ouch.....ooooooooo....pain.

As far as someone knocking GSP into the 10th row, it may happen one day, every fighter has their day, and if someone is capable of it then they well deserve the title.

Matt Hughes is an ego-freak who rarely has an impressive victory. His only skill and tactic is dropping someone on their head after they tire of using him as a punching bag.

Before you reply with another uneducated post, do a little homework, watch some video's, read some interviews, and then come and post.

There’s no denying that GSP caught him with a couple of low kicks, but it was clearly unintentional both times. If you’ll notice the first time he got kicked in the junk, he waited until GSP had backed off and McCarthy had turned back around to look at him before he preceded dropping like a cry baby to the ground. Some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen in my life. And I’m not sure which fight you were watching, but that second one caught him on the inside of the thigh, not square in the balls like the first one. If there was any contact at all with the second kick, it was by the tips of GSP’s toes, which would have easily been absorbed by his cup anyway. Matt Hughes plain and simple put on a show for the ref, the fans and the cameras. Not only for the sympathy vote, but also as a stall tactic in order for him to regroup himself since he was clearly getting the piss beaten out of him.

Ahhhh, but you and every other fan out of the loop only got half the story on that one. A good friend of mine who fights for APEX out of Quebec trained with GSP a few weeks after the BJ Penn fight and got the real story on what that scene was all about.

In the aftermath of the Hughes/Penn fight, during Dana Whites post fight conversation with Hughes, GSP had gotten an important call on his cell phone and missed a good portion of what Hughes had said during his interview. Some of the guys in George’s crew thought they'd screw with him and told him that Matt Hughes was talking smack about him during his post fight speech. Immediately after saying this, George was called to the ring to comment on the fight and his buddies didn’t have the chance to tell him they were just playing around. GSP made those comments based on what he thought Hughes had said about him, to play it up for the fans. Immediately afterwards, Georges buddies let him in on their little joke and George went directly to Matt’s dressing room after the fight and apologized.

Regardless, of what the basis of his comments were. The main reason he made them was to shake things up for the fans in anticipation for their next fight. Not because he was a classless jerk.

As far as how this battle has played out. I feel as though Matt Hughes is now as he was then, severely outmatched! Regardless of his eventual victory at the end of their first fight, GSP took it to Matt Hughes right from the get go even then. It was dumb luck that he caught GSP with a submission the first time round, but anyone who saw that fight knows that that round easily belonged to GSP. Since then, George ensured it wouldn’t happen again by beefing up on his take down defense and ground game, knowing that he already excelled over Hughes during any sort of stand-up pairing. The end result…..TOTAL DOMNINATION over Hughes the second time around. Hughes is going to really have to get his head into the game if he expects to even be able to fight on par with GSP for their third meeting. It should be an interesting event none the less. :nice:

With regards to the other fights……I’m certainly glad they didn’t make the Silvia/Monson fight their main even. It was a total bore fest and Silvia’s a terrible champion. :notnice:

The only other fight that night I was really looking forward to seeing was the Frank Mir/Brandon Vera match up. After seeing the fight, I find myself in total agreement with Vera when he stated that Frank Mir was nothing more than a “Flash in the pan” fighter. He came into his last fight against Dan Christison (from a losing bought with Marcio Cruz) looking like total garbage. He managed to barely eek out a decision victory against him, then comes into this fight not looking that much better. He was completely non-enthusiastic, no drive, no nothing. It’s like he’s totally lost whatever drive that he created after beating Tank Abbott a few years back and has just been coasting through his last few fights. Somebody needs to seriously sit him down and screw his head on strait if they expect him to renew his contract. :nonono:

I'd like to see that. If Matt Hughes put aside his ego, and devoted himself to training on his feet, it would benefit him on so many levels. If you watch all of his previous fights, I dont think I've ever seen him get the better of a stand up game. His fight over BJ Penn was disgusting, BJ made Matt his bitch, and then got tired. And Matt hughes didnt do any damage, didnt do anything impressive, I was spanked harder when I was 5 compared to his "punches." Train the stand-up game, lose the ego and then we'll see if hes got anything.

what the hell are you talking about? You apparently dont know anything about MMA

When hughes finally got him to the ground in the THIRD round after being beaten for the first two, he had his arms locked up...yes. But he only had about 4-6 inches of travel for his punches, and he was tired. What damage is that going to do...none...

When Hughes was on his feet (wobbly legs, mind you) in the 3rd round his fists had no technique, his arms were at his sides and he was swinging from his shoulders. Hes garbage on his feet, total garbage. He improved abit in the GSP fight, but not enough to do any effective damage to anyone.

I think some of the guys are just pissed that a Canadian beat their beloved American crap fighter.

War of 1812 anyone? lol :canada:

Sorry, had to stir the pot a bit. America's good too :D

haha nice, what kind of car do you drive??

FYI, I think GSP is a great fighter and would have beat hughes the first time they fought but hughes got lucky with that arm bar.... that came from no where. Hughes is still a great fighter though.

I drive the blue notch in my sig. Hughes is good at what he knows best (wrestling/submission). I'll drop the debates and just say that lol.

The United States is the Media Central for the world. The celebrities, musicians, even the fighters. I always take pride in Canadian entertainment because there arent many that get great levels of success. I dont even like Nickelback...at all...but I love the fact that they are successful. Know what I'm sayin'?
