Ok so my new car is making some noise, 89 gt 5spd. anyways when i turn the car on and its idling it sounds fine, but if u give it some gas and get it above idle the car makes this very annoying clicking sound, sounds pretty much like metal clicking. i thought maybe the heatsheild on the cats were loose so i took them off, nothing the noise is still there, we jacke up the car, turned it on and could see nothing loose. right now its up at russ milne ford getting looked at, but does anyone have ANY clue wat this might be. sorry i dont have any sound clips or anything

Sounds like a worn out throwout bearing

Gotcha.. Had to replace a throwout bearing before.. was getting the sound described... and it turned out to be the TO Bearing.. no squeeling from me though.. more of a knocking.. and when the clutch was pushed in it would go away.. Do you have an firewall adjuster?

Check the clutch fork on the side of your bellhousing, it may be rattling against the fork shield. (left side of the bellhousing)

well yea i did consider the exhuast leak, but i couldnt feel any hot air in the engine, however when u shut off the engine u can hear gass escaping from somewhere for a quick second. Also my dad called his cousin who designs transmissions. he said that ford bolted the shifter to the trans for performance and that that bolt may be loose. What is a throw out bearing, becuase i am pretty sure the noise does stop if the clutch is engaged

not necessarily, as I said earlier...theres two (8mm?) bolts on the side of the bellhousing, theres a shield over your clutch fork, if the shield is too low or too high, when the fork spins it taps against the shield, and when you put the clutch in, the fork stops moving. Check the easy stuff first...
