Well last weekend I was pulling the lower intake so I could ship it to Tmoss and I accidentally banged the distributor and the plastic base cracked. The cap and rotor are ok but am I going to have problems when I go to start er when everything is put back together?

Never really paid attention to it but I thought the base was cast aluminum. I personally would replace it with a new Richporter ($90) especially if it is the original item or believe it to be. With miles the bushings/bearing wear along with the gear and of course the PIP. Yup, new replacement for me.

The body is aluminum, but the upper and lower portion of the cap is plastic.
A crack may let moisture and dust in.
You can replace it, its attached with two Philips head screws, under the dizzy cap.
