I went to a junk yard in Dallas on my way to Florida last week to find the parts I needed for the Ultrastang rear brake conversion. Since we weren't staying in the big D we left instructions for my mom to pick up the parts later that week and we would get them from her on our way back home from Florida. Florida was beautiful by the way.

Well when we went back to my mom's to pick up the brake parts I discovered that they had left a couple things on the donor car, which were the splash shields, brake hoses and the parking brake cable linkage. I'm not worried about the parking brake linkage or the brake lines, but the splash shields might be a problem.

Do you folks know if there is another car that I can get the splash shields from to complete my parts list and my brake swap? The parts I got were from an 87 Lincoln Mark VII and I think the rotors are like 11 inchers. Well there are no Marks in the yards where I live but there are plenty of old town cars lying around. Could I get what I need from them?

Thanks

burgess auto salvage out by the strip has a mark 7, i don't know if uit still has the brakes or not though. hope that will help, also i think the lincoln continentals had the same brakes, so if you can find one of those you're set. i don't know about the town cars though

Hey someone else from Lubbock!

Yeah, I looked at that one and it is missing the rear axle. Do you think I could get away with leaving the splash shields off my car?

Yes,

You can leave them off. They are only a crud catcher anyhow. Ever notice that none of the aftermarket kits come with them???

leaving them off probably wouldn't hurt anything much, but if you can find a set that will work i'd personally rather have them on. we do live in the dust capital of texas you know
