It is already illegal in the state of Washington to alter the exhaust system in any way that makes it louder than stock. Not to say that anybody pays attention to it, but it is on the books.

Yea same here in mass, its technically illegal to have an exhaust louder than stock but it scares me that theyre going as far as to make it illegal to purchase.....

Eh, MA already has a law on the books for this. It's called "modified exhaust" and plenty of my friends got tickets for this in our youth.

This law is really geared towards the riders. There are fart cans on everything out here.

Honestly, I am not sure this law has any legal merit to ban aftermarket systems. When was the last time you saw a stock 1986 ford exhaust system for sale? Good luck finding one. You have no choice but to run aftermarket systems.

With the amount of positive comments I get in my mustang from cops...i highly doubt anyone is gonna bother me. And if someone does....well, show me where I can get an oem ford system. I can't.

But like I said...this law is really mostly for the ricers. I can drive around and see stupid fart cans on minivans, or some middle aged woman in her 40's with a fart can on a stock camry. Its out of hand. Cant sleep at night with the window open without something farting by

One thing I don't miss about living in MA is all the BS auto laws. My Mustang had failed inspections numerous years due to not having a front plate permanently mounted, the exhaust being "louder than stock" despite passing the emissions test, etc.

Here in MI, all you have to do is pay to register the car and you're fully legal no matter what rusty pile of falling-apart **** you have.

Eh, depends on what kind of mood the cop is in that day as to whether you get a ticket.

Personally, i think the last two years owning my mustang has been better than ever. I never really got hassled that much but since they lifted emissions testing on OBD I cars, I can get a sticker now. Drove on a expired sticker for almost 5 years before i got a ticket!

It's nice not having to worry about inspections and such, but on the other hand, you have to share the road with some pretty questionable jealopies!

Uhmm this is like the 50 millionth time it has come up. last time was like 2 or 3 yrs ago. Like Mike stated they are going after the ricers buzzing up and down the roads mostly. I have no problems with inspections and even less now that they don't smog us. dealer cannot get a stock system for us, so that is easy enough to prove, most systems are C.A.R.B and 50 state legal so they can float rocks. the decibel thing has been challenged to death also.

yea i dont know if you guys are familiar with Springfield but far cans are a dime a dozen, even tho i did get pulled over about two weeks ago for my exhaust. cop just asked what i had and let me off.. i think its ridiculous how these harleys can go by you and bust an ear drum with straight pipes and you cant get aftermarket mufflers without a hassle

I had SLP LM2's on an '01 GT, and the thing sounded like a garbage truck. However I didn't have a hard time getting a sticker, or with the police. Maybe it just depends on how cool the shop is you get your sticker at.

yea springfield is progressively getting worse, your not missing much. Glad to live in East Longmeadow. but anyway, i got a sticker with no air bag no cats and no horn but that was just sheer luck. I think theyre wasting their time. Lets let the criminals run around but man those mustang owners we gotta quiet them down theyre ruining everything! Ass backwards is what it is. Next there goin to be telling me what shoes and socks are state legal

Try getting a handgun permit in this state.

Jump through hoops to get all the crap for the application...and then you wait forever. Been 9 weeks..nothing yet

Here...EVERYTHING is registered. In order for me to sell you a gun, we have to go to a dealer, and do a transfer which is like technically selling it to the dealer, and then he sells it to you and charged $40.

Plus worst restrictions in the state. You can get a "Lisence to Carry" and have it state that on the card, but not be legally able to carry period. Makes no sense. There are different levels of LTC regulating the number of bullets the gun can hold. Only the top teir can carry concealed.
