Whats up guys, my coupe is about to go to the paintshop and I've got something else I want to try getting fixed while the car is down. The underside has some surface rust on it. The floors are solid but some spots back towards the rear and around the spare tire well have some surface on em, no rot though. I cleaned some of the spots up with some sandpaper and a die grinder, sprayed some rust inhibitor and then some primer but theres other spots I cannot get to so I'm lookin for advice on how to clean it up. Also if I should be cleanin up the spots I can get to in a different method please let me know what I should be doing. Thanks alot for any help guys

I use some rubberized undercoating stuff on mine. I looks good to me. you cant see any rust and it does a great job preventing anymore rust as well. Also you can spray clean motor oil on the underbody to prevent rust as well. Im not sure if this is what your really looking for but, it will prevent any rust from returning in the near future.

use some rust converter. spray a few coats, let it set up for a day or two, and then hit it with rustoleum, etc.
best idea i can think of.
good luck.

buy a small portable sandblaster and a 5 gallon bucket of sand. you can get one at a parts store for like 20 bucks and they work great. i am doing my entire underbody. never spray anything on rust until you take care of it. the paint will never last.hope this helps.

my bad, forget what i said. i thought he was just trying to stop the rust. if it is getting painted (he is talkin about the underside, no? is it getting powerdercoated?), sandblast, etc is the way to go. i thought we were just talkin about slowing the rust and cleaning it up.
good luck.
