I need to see the CORRECT undercarriage of our cars at the crossmember.

I did the tranny mount today and it was a complete PITA, and I know it should not have been as hard as it was. I ended up asking a mechanic to look at it and he said either the crossmember was turned the wrong way or the plate that is in between the mount and the tranny (what the tranny mount bolts to, not the crossmember). Anyways after 4 hours of work i ifnally got it on therecrapola

Im just a little worried b/c I had to force the crossmember over about 1/8th of an inch. That should be ok right? The bushings would absord that and not the tranny? I just dont wanna risk messin up the tranny from shock or misallignment.

Anyways, I need to see the CORRECT undercarriage of our cars at the crossmember. Thanks!!!

I don't have the picture you are looking for, but this plus a description should help some.

Exhaust hanger install:

The exhaust hanger bracket kind of shaped like a boomerang. The part in the center has a slight lip on it. The part with the lip should be facing up. The two circular pieces that the h-pipe goes into should be on top and facing forward.

Crossmember install:

One side of the crossmember has a larger hump than the other. I believe the side with the larger hump goes on the passenger side.

Having to force it 1/8 of an inch is fine/normal. Dont sweat it.

OK, so far so good. Thanks guys.
The big hump is on the passanger side.
The part where the Hpipe connects is kind of "U" shaped too. The point of the "U" is facing the front of the car

That sounds right. I remember the hump being on the passenger side. After posting, I looked at a picture of the H-Pipe bracket and now that I think of it, it does go with the point forward. If you did it wrong, you probably would not be able to put it all back together. When I did this, I forgot how it went back together and it only ended up going in one way. So you probably did it right.

FWIW, unless you're actually using that exhaust hanger for your H- or X-pipe, it's just an annoying piece of scrap metal begging to be discarded (or at least tossed away into some dark corner of one's garage). I had to do the same when installing my poly tranny mount - had to widen the bolt holes in the crossmember for the new bolts' width, and then poke a beefy Phillips screwdriver up through one bolt hole to hold the alignment while I threaded in the other bolt, which held it in place to remove the screwdriver and thread in the other.

I was worried my motor mounts were trashed and/or my whole drivetrain's alignment was way outta whack, since I had that same problem, but mayhaps this is more common an issue than I thought, and just a standard issue with tranny mounts...?

I'd like to see pics as well. I had a custom exhaust on mine and am doing a BBk H with Pypes catback. I want to install the hangar to keep the exhaust tight against the chasis, but I cant get it to fit around the 3550 the way that is described above.
