Underhood Insulation

Under hood instulation serves two purpose ...number one is to keep the heat in the engine bay in cold climinates its necessary to help keep engine come up to temperature quicker(helps with emissions). number 2 is kinda weak..some have claimed it also will assist in case of fire the blanket will fall onto the engine and possibily snuff the fire...

Main reason again is to shorten the time the engine takes to get up to temparture..

oh yea....if you remove it you will have increase engine noise too.

i heard its also so the paint on the hood wont mess up as fast because of exterior heat plus the engine heat, i dunno, i heard that some where.

That is what I have always heard for its purpose. It keep the engine heat from cooking the paint on the hood.

as stated earlier, one of the main reasons is if there is a fire the platsic clips will melt and it will fall onto the engine acting as a blanket to help snuff out the fire.

by the time the plastic melts all the way (because it will gum up at first and actually hold the blanket on) the engine components are dead.

does it really matter what its designed for.

The question is why bother taking it off??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

If its for weight reduction then your are better off just going to the toilet before you get in the car. As it will make NO absolutly NO difference whats so ever to how your cars performance capability.
