Unisteer Column conversion for 69 Mustang

Anyone do a Unisteer Rack upgrade with a 69 Mustang? Im having problems
figuring out how to do the bearing and Column. To me it sounds like you cut off the inner column and them pound it in to make the bearing fit? Is this right? The instructions didn't seem real clear on the 69. Any other problems or concerns with the 69 installation of the Unisteer Rack?

Hey Mike,

I got the bearing in column and cut the shaft off. The u joint is to small that fits on the steering shaft so Ill have to grind off the inside of the U joint. I think then Ill be done with the steering shaft. I had my Dad help with the steering shaft. It a 2 person job. Everything is so dam tight and you need to do grinding to make it work. The rack craddle is a whole another problem. I ground down the lips on the LCA braces that stated in the instructions. The holes still dont match up to the frame. Im thinking Ill have to grind the holes out on the cradle to make it work. If I go to much more the LCA braces Im going to get into the lower control arm and there will be clearence issues with that.

Its a great price with there discount and worth the work. It does make me mad that this is something the could fix easily. I had a pic from a guy who took his rack off the cradle. He squared the holes for LCA adjuster bolt. He said a year ago he sent them his recomendations for the craddle and what they need to do to make it right and fix future problems. There still making it the same way. They say each Mustang is different. Well Im thinking there is no way the Mustangs could very by that much. Everyone that I know that have done one of these kits had to fix the holes on the cradle
