trick flow high ports, solid cam, and a victor jr. with a 1050cc dominator carb.

this is a perfect example of a typical 302/AOD cookie cutter setup

that was a little sarcasm from 90lxcoupe, haha... wish i could help you out but i'm a manual transmission kinda guy, although i've heard a lot of guys had good luck with the B&M shift kit for the AOD, and 4:10 gears are generally the best for an automatic... someone else will chime in with a stall recommendation

I second the B&M Shift Kit and 4.10 gears, and you really have no need for a stall converter if you aren't really planning on having more than a stock motor with bolt-ons.

3.73's FTW

With 3.73's i run out of gear at the end of the track. With 4.10's i'd be sitting on the rev limiter.

I ran a 14.0 with basically a stock AOD (no shift kit or stall) and 3.73's and typical 5.0 bolt ons. I went 14.7 bone stock.

But now i'm ditching the AOD for a 5-spd

well then you didn't search, a 4cyl T5 is not the best choice at all to back a 5.0 . car. They have lowest torque rating just for starters and generaly wont last, DON"T BUY IT. The best used T5 to get is from late 1989-91 since these years recieved the most upgrades. 1992 recieved another. you will need pedal assembly, pilot bearing, clutch kit, fork, cable kit, bell housing, bellhousing bolts, pressure plate bolts, 50oz. fly wheel, new center console trim piece, shfiter, inner/outer boots for starters. I wouldn't have kept the 3:73 gears. If you make the swap and go 3:73's you need a 21th speedo gear.

I agree. Just say no to a 4-banger t-5.

It will work, but the gear ratios are way too steep and lower the torque rating

Are you happy with the AOD? What's the car used for? Put some thought into it before planning a swap, I'd do the 3.73s, B&M shift kit and buy an aftermarket tranny cooler and you're set. Way cheaper than a T5 swap too! Use the money you save on that cobra intake you wanna buy

Well thanks for the feed back on that 4 cly. tranny did not buy i kinda new it would be a little off set in some way. I did see a good deal on craigslist on a used t5 and all the parts i need to do the swap their asking 750.00 for all. Tha only thing is i don't live in cleveland and wondering how much would it be to ship to Texas. My car is an every day driver and just want to have that extra pick up and go feeling and not a hesitation. So keeping 3.73 gears and B&M shift kit and transs. cooler kit and ill have the extra kick. Nothing is wrong with my AOD just plan and simple want to have fun. Thanks 1stang.210
