anyone that has above the stock 130 alternator...what do you have and do you like it? I talked to a guy today, and he said that with a higher powered alternator, you may have power problems at low rpms, such as sitting at idle....do you experience this at all?

thanks!

Your buddy sounds misinformed. Higher amp alternators generally produce more power at low rpms.. that's why you see so many foxbody owners upgrading to the 3g alternators.. they produce as much power idling as the factory alternator did at high rpm's.

the guy I talked to rebuilds them...he said that he noticed that the power is low, and that you have to make the alternator pulley smaller in order to get more spin on the alternator....what is the 3g alternator? what is the best upgraded alternator to get?

That guy is right! I have a 200amp PA alt and after install my idle rpm's dropped due to the change in pulley size so when sitting at a red light the car wasn't making big power. Give it some gas and the power was great....my mechanic suggested swapping the stock alt pulley back on and that would take care of it.
