upgrading axels

must have's

1. axles
2. diff
3 shim kit to be safe.
4. dial indicator to verify backlash .008-.012
5. grease to verify wear pattern.
6. apply an extra .005 to .007 to each side to preload the carrier.

I have never done carrier without gears but you really still have to verify the gear setup is correct again to be safe,

the thing about messing with the diff is also is the bearings on the carrier. you can pull off your old bearings and re-use or get new ones. I would also at a minimum put new axle seals on. if low miles inspect the axle bearing and if find re-use. you can drive the tone rings on and off if you want I did. in hind sight I proalby would just take them somewhere and have the swaped by someone with a press.

now if you are going to launch on slicks everly will tell you to weld the axle tubes and torque boxes. you also need a nice set of LCA's at this point IMO. this choice has alot to do with the torque boxes. have a LCA that does not bind will save you torque boxes but I would proably weld them anyway jus to be safe.
