upper console 1967

I have a 67 coupe. I recently got an upper console. I ordered the front bracket and will be ready to install soon. Do I have to remove the headliner ? What does the front bracket mount to, and what does the rear screw into ? The car is a coupe so I know there is only one bracket. I was thinking of cutting a slit in the headliner since the console would cover it. What about the wiring ?Need help.
