Upper is off once again,,,,,,,Systemax help

I've done the two spacer thing. (1) 1" and (1) 1/4" (to clear valve covers)

I've done the stock valve covers/no spacer thing (not much difference)

I've now got the stock valve covers/1" spacer thing going on.

John, I know you say a little oil is fine, but tell me Im not sucking to much. Look at that spacer,,,it's soaked. Like we discussed,,only 8" of vacuum as well. If I put the stock cap on the filler next and leave the PCV bung capped it makes a whistle that is a little loud. As Im untightening the cap you can hear it sucking. I replaced the cap for a breather for now. Once I get a vacuum tit for the PCV port on TB I will go back to original cap. I really wish I would have kept my B cam.

Wade,
usually that on the throttle body is connected to the oil fill neck on the valve cover (as I am sure you know). That could give you a little less oil sucked into your intake. (it acts like a HUGE PCV valve, kinda). Do you have the oil fill neck tube in place? Looks like it is capped on the engine. I would try advancing the cam I know that would suck at this point to pick up some bottom end.
It sounds to me like with 8" of vacuum you have a vacuum leak somewhere. I am fighting the same problem I only have 5" of vacuum.

Yeah, I have the stock hose that actually goes to the PCV tit on the TB. I will go get a replacement or just go get some sort of vacuum bung that can thread into it. I am pretty sure that will take care of some of the problem. I know I installed the cam "straight up" and Im not pulling the motor apart just to advance/retard the thing. The 8" of vacuum thing has me thinking I might not have the lower sealed all the way. I'll keep ya all posted.

sorry...and i know it's off the subject.
but didn't you post awhile back about cleaning up your engine, so what's with all those stickers.

back to your problem.........
